Highly recommend this product. Punches well above its weight class as far as lumen output goes, and the driver is highly efficient.
A fantastic EDC light.
This light can be extremely low, which is nice, as well as quite bright. I got the sst20 5000k LEDs, which are a bit greenish at low brightness. Not a big deal but I'll choose different ones next time. The only things that would improve this light to me would be dual channel ability and usb c recharging.
Is there enough room here to list all the good things about this light? Let’s find out.
-Freeman’s driver makes for high lumens with very very efficient heat management.
-Great lumen output for size.
-Highly customizable LED selection
-Price
-Anduril 2
-Tough and durable, even without potted electronics.
-Small form, easy to carry.
-Recessed button ring provides for extremely small chances of accidentally activation.
-Won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
-Option for lanyard, keychain attachment, tail magnet, and pocket clip.
-Ability to check battery level.
-Duel fuel; lithium or AA.
-Swap-able optic.
Seriously. This thing is probably the current Magnus Opus of the flashlight world right now.
I really like the form factor , led selection and the new driver. I really like the new lower moon mode.
I don't like the new brighter aux lights. They are too bright for use as a "find me" near my bed. Also even when they are deactivated the aux lights are activated when the light is turned on. This makes inconspicuous use of moon mode impossible. They also make this tool seem more like a toy. These are big bummers for me.
I'm in the process of finding the perfect red light to use for astronomy. I've got a few dozen I'm currently testing, and was recommended the D3AA. Went with SST-20 660nm deep red emitters under 10508 frosted optics with red back-lit button, along with clip & magnet for usefulness around the scope.
This is an amazing little light with very dim moonlight that works great for keeping dark adaption when reading charts, while aux set to dim red works well for finding the light once put down but isn't bright enough to screw with night eyesight. The button is a little brighter than I'd like, so I'll be adding a black button to future orders to mask it.
Altogether an amazing little light!! This was my first Hank Light (ordered a KC1 with it so technically 2nd Hank), but I'll definitely be ordering more soon.
Hank makes the best flashlights out there. The D3AA is excellent. The epitome of daily carry flashlight design.
10/19/24. Just received my D3AA and it's identical to my D4SV2 but miniaturized, with the stainless steel bezel and cyan blue, so cool! The light output is amazing for a 14500 powered flashlight and surprising throw with the 10507 lens. This is my new favorite EDC flashlight without a doubt. I really like the high efficiency boost driver and hope Hank will use them in all his upcoming flashlights. It's got decent weight for it's tiny size an the tail cap magnet is strong. All in all this is a fantastic EDC flashlight and the customization makes it personal to one's liking, another home run Hank and thank you for another amazing flashlight, now to customize my next Hank torch.
This light is so much fun. It is nearly perfect. It runs so smooth with Anduril, it doesn't just switch on, the light appears... smooth. Moon-mode is great. This is the perfect light for Anduril-nerds, it's compact, it's efficient, it's bright. I own 100+ lights and modify everything - but this little light is my absolute favourite out of the box. A few things could be optimized: The anodization is quite delicate and the battery tube could be more compact (diameter/wallthickness). Some may want a charging via USB-C.
I hope there will be much more lights with this µController that performs this well with Anduril.
What an amazing light for its size. The driver is fabulous, the design is great, and Hank is a legend. This thing slaps hard and will blow your mind!
Incredible output in a very small package...puts out a light of light and runs cool. New Driver is breakthrough technology...pound for pound the best light on the planet. Thank you Hank!
This little light is a powerhouse. Brighter than a boost driven D4V2 due to the new 9A driver, yet barely half the size. Definitely a new EDC champion.
